“We’re going in a different direction”… I cringe just thinking of those words. What does that even MEAN!? And if your employee is a good hire, why can’t you train him to head in this ‘new direction’ with you? I’ll answer my own question… it’s because it’s a load of crap.
Chances are when you get hit with that ‘going in a new direction’ line, the company isn’t actually changing direction at all. You’re getting the boot because of budget cuts, or something else that has nothing to do with you or your performance. It’s just your employer doesn’t have the heart to tell you that… or maybe they legally can’t, who knows?
You know what else also always bugged me? If the person’s a good employee, and it’s a money thing, why not give them the option to have their salary cut in order to stay on board? At least throw the offer out there, I mean, c’mon.
Okay, yes, I’m bitter. But it’s a pet peeve of mine… and also the plot of the latest #IHatePeople episode. Oh, and I use nasty curse words, so don’t watch the video at work. Watch it HERE.
Unless YOU wanna get fired, lol.
