‘I Have Questions’ is the Song That Changed Camila Cabello’s Life

"That song saved me in a way."

Since departing from Fifth harmony, Camila Cabello has been busy focusing on solo efforts, being featured on Top 20 songs with Shawn Mendes and Machine Gun Kelly. Her solo debut — The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving. — will be released in September and features the lead single “Crying in the Club.” But “I Have Questions” — originally included as a short interlude — became the most important song Cabello has written.

“It was a really low point in my life,” Cabello tells Shoboy and Nina from 92.3 AMP Radio. “[‘I Have Questions’] changed my life because it was the first time I felt like I could talk about the kind of pain I was experiencing.”

Cabello’s mother inspired her to continue working on the song after bring her to tears.

“She started crying because she knows me. I guess for her to hear my emotions really translate into a song, to hear that pain, was intense and really emotional,” says Cabello. “The only way to get through pain and heartache is to talk about it. When you keep it all to yourself it just comes out in uglier ways. That song saved me in a way.”
