“I think he said somewhere in an interview that he would like to collaborate on a Spanish song with either me or Shakira, and I was like ‘Alright! Let’s go!'” Cabello says with an enthusiastic hair flip during an interview with 92.3 AMP Radio’s Shoboy and Nina. Sheeran has already recorded a Spanish-influenced song — “Barcelona” is included on the Deluxe Edition of his 2017 album ÷. The multi-Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter previously wrote a song with Cabello in mind — “Care About Me” — and maintains a friendly relationship with her.

“He and I had been pen pals for a while and just emailing each other back and forth,” says Cabello. “He was one of those people that, after I went and decided to do my own thing, was like ‘Congrats! Spread those wings!’ He’s just supportive to people in general. He’s just a nice guy. He stays out of drama and he just cares about people.”

Camila Cabello’s solo debut The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving. will be out in September.
