Why is ‘Wonder Woman’ Banned in Lebanon?

Wonder Woman has proven to be the hero a staggering DC Movie Universe has been searching for, but the film’s impact won’t be felt in at least one part of the world.

USA Today reports that the movie has been banned from screening in Lebanon because of the film’s lead, Gal Gadot. Before she became a Hollywood star, the Israeli-bron Gadot served her two years in the Israel Defense Forces as a combat trainer. Conscription in Israel requires all Israeli citizens of Jewish, Druze, or Circassianover descent who are 18 years old to serve: two years and eight months for men; two years for women.

The Grand Cinemas in Lebanon tweeted that they would not be screening the movie yesterday, May 31.
