When it comes to the remaining girls of Fifth Harmony, Lauren Jauregui is the most seasoned in solo material… at least being on official singles that get pushed out to radio. She had that collaboration with Marian Hill, “Back To Me”… which by the way, the lyric video for that song (below) now has over 5 MILLION views.
All the other girls have pursued solo paths as well. Ally Brooke has been spotted in-studio with the DJ duo Lost Kings, as well as Sydney Sierota from Echosmith. Dinah Jane has gotten into the recording booth for Oakland-based rapper/producer Stunna June, and is featured on the RedOne produced “U Here Tonight” with Fetty Wap & French Montana. And Normani? Who can forget that freakin’ awesome cover she did of Tory Lanez‘ song “Say It?”
Harmonizers, bare with me here… I DO think Lauren will be the next Fifth Harmony member to release a solo album, but I also think she’ll remain in the group. I really think this 5H situation is a mirrored female version of One Direction. Zayn and Camila couldn’t handle the restrictions anymore… they couldn’t wait for it to get better. And who knows, them leaving their groups might have made it easier on the remaining members.
Maybe the record labels loosened the reins on 5H and 1D after each group lost a member, in fear that there would be other casualties if more creative freedom wasn’t given.
Rock bands do this all the time. They have their main group that they’re a part of, then they go off and do solo projects, and even join other groups, but they always come back to their original band. Chris Cornell’s solo material was NOT Soundgarden, and Audioslave wasn’t Soundgarden either. Soundgarden was Soundgarden.
You following me here? Why should pop groups be any different?
