Why Did Halsey Choose PARTYNEXTDOOR and Charli XCX to Join Her ‘Hopeless Fountain Kingdom’ Tour?

Tours are a major form of revenue for artists, so choosing the right musicians to join them on the road can be as important as who is featured on their album. Choose wisely, or your plans could go up in flames.

Halsey will follow up her successful debut — 2015’s Badlands — with hopeless fountain kingdom, another concept album centered around a futuristic Romeo & Juliet love story. After the album’s June 2nd release and a Summer traveling the globe for the festival circuit, Halsey will return to North America for a 30-date tour across the US and Canada. Joining her will be Charli XCX and PARTYNEXTDOOR, whom Halsey meticulously chose for very specific reasons.

“The reason I wanted to bring Charli and PARTY out is A: because we’re all friends. We all live on the same street, which is really cool,” says Halsey. “The thing I really love about them is we all write and so we all kind of have a different mentality about everything.”

Halsey notes that her friends bring different styles to her tour, melding well with the sound of hopeless fountain kingdom.

“This record kind of has a little more of an R&B feel, so that’s why I thought it was really cool to bring on PARTYNEXTDOOR. Charli … she plays to that kind of alternative pop world that I come from … the two of them, I feel like if you combined their music, it would be my next album. It’s really cool to have two parts of it on the tour.”

Halsey will bring the hopeless fountain kingdom Tour to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on October 13th.
