Charlie Puth Explains His Writing Process via Beatbox

Singer Charlie Puth is currently promoting his new single “Attention” as well as his upcoming tour dates with Shawn Mendes on his ‘Illuminate World Tour.’ During some downtime, Charlie stopped by the 92.3 AMP Radio studios to chat with Niko about all things Puth, including how bad his mom feels about Charlie’s eyebrow as well as an epic beatbox explanation on how he goes about getting his songs down on tape.

But first, about that eyebrow…

Apparently, Charlie was bitten by a dog when he was younger, giving him that bad-a** scar above his right eye. When Niko brought it up, Charlie quickly changed the subject since his mom, who was in the audience, is not a fan of the story — AT ALL.

Moving into songwriting, Charlie explains that he produced his new single “Attention” himself and what he envisioned for the record.

“It’s always challenging taking it from my head and putting into Pro Tools because I don’t really trust anybody else producing that type of record for me,” Charlie says. “I would spend something like five hours shaping the kick drum — but it’s my pleasure because I like doing it.”
