12-Year-Old Rapper Skylar Katz Talks Old School Hip Hop, Ending Gun Violence with Astra

12-year-old Long Island rapper Skylar Katz joined 92.3 AMP Radio’s Astra on our Stubhub stage in the Adorama Theater today to talk about her budding career, old school hip hop influences and her vision of putting an end to gun violence.

If you’re a fan of America’s Got Talent, then you definitely remember Sky Katz, the little outspoken now 12-year-old rapper from Melville, Long Island. Unfortunately, she didn’t make it to the live shows, but that isn’t stopping this pre-teen from making a mark on the music scene!

Influenced musically by many artists that were long before her time, like Biggie, Tupac, Run DMC and more, this little firecracker sure seems to be on the road to bringing back that old school hip hop sound with a new school flavor!!

She has recently decided to write a song to try to bring an end to gun violence and feels that music can help spread more positive vibes and it’s one of many songs that will be featured on her upcoming album getting released in 2017.

As my youngest interview to date, I still can’t believe I had such a mature conversation with a 12 year old! Check it out for yourself!!
