Kelly Clarkson on Trump: ‘I am Legitimately Frightened for Our Nation’

Kelly Clarkson shared on Twitter her thoughts about a recent comment made by presidential candidate Donald Trump. It was prompted by a post by Bette Midler that read:

So Clarkson responded:

Below is a Vine of Trump making the comment, which he later responded to CNN that “of course, I was joking.”

Clarkson has been more vocal than others over the years about her political views. In 2012, she told the U.K.’s Daily Star that even though she’s a “Republican at heart” she planned on voting for President Obama again, adding, “I can’t support Romney’s policies as I have a lot of gay friends and I don’t think it’s fair they can’t get married.”

In 2011, she also received a barrage of backlash when she tweeted that she loved Ron Paul.
