T.I. has already issued one public apology for his comments regarding Hillary Clinton, and women in general, but he went a step further today with a new video apology.
The rapper is facing intense scrutiny after comments he made during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid in which he said he would never vote for Hillary Clinton and accused women of making “rash decisions emotionally,” read the full quote below.
“Not to be sexist but, I can’t vote for the leader of the free world to be a woman. Just because, every other position that exists, I think a woman could do well. But the president? It’s kinda like, I just know that women make rash decisions emotionally – they make very permanent, cemented decisions – and then later, it’s kind of like it didn’t happen, or they didn’t mean for it to happen. And I sure would hate to just set off a nuke. [Other leaders] will not be able to negotiate the right kinds of foreign policy; the world ain’t ready yet. I think you might be able to the Lochness Monster elected before you could [get a woman].”
T.I. took to social media almost immediately after the clip went viral with an apology:
“My comments about women running for president were unequivocally insensitive and wrong,” Tip tweeted. “I sincerely apologize to everyone I offended.”
Today he posted a video apologizing further and elaborating on the subject.
In a facebook post he writes: “I’m being told to be quiet & just let this pass…. Nah that aint quite ME. So,heres my apology for my jokes that I made on DJ Whoo Kids radio show. My words WERE NOT meant to be taken so literally. Never saw Whoo Kids show as a social/political platform. However Apologize none the less.”
