Donald Trump on Kanye West’s Presidential Ambition: “I Hope to Run Against Him Someday”

By E. Parker

Presidential candidate Donald Trump has something to say about all the comparisons between Kanye West and himself. From one presidential candidate with an outsized personality to another, it’s apparently all love.

After Kanye West announced his bid for 2020 presidency at the MTV VMAs (Aug. 30), there have been much thought and opinion pieces (see our “Five Reasons Kanye West Should Run For President Now, Bro!“) devoted to the rapper and the real estate tycoon.

“Somehow there are comparisons made so often, which is interesting, comparisons between Kanye and myself,  I don’t get it,” Trump told Rolling Stone in a recent interview.

“I was actually watching, I saw him [announce his candidacy on the VMAs], and I said, ‘That’s very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea?'”

Trump went on to talk about how Miley Cyrus, the VMA host, said she was going to vote for Trump but after Kanye’s announcement switched to Kanye.

“He’s actually a different kind of person than people think,” Trump said. “He’s a nice guy. I hope to run against him someday.”
