Rihanna: ‘People Are Voting for Trump; Who Wouldn’t Vote for Kanye?’

By Philip Cosores

All you need to do is log onto social media and you’ll see the same general reaction about Kanye West‘s bid to run for president in 2020: If Donald Trump can do it, why not Kanye?

Joining is this sentiment is West’s frequent collaborator and longtime friend, Rihanna. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight (via NME), Rihanna responded to West’s intent by saying “People are voting for [Donald] Trump; who wouldn’t vote for Kanye?”

“I’m really, really elated with his speech,” the singer continued. “His speech was incredible.”

Of course, this presumption take for granted whether Trump’s candidacy will actually survive the entire race toward the Republican nomination, including debates, fundraising, and weathering attacks from competitors. But, looking beyond Trump, other celebrities have seen successful jumps into politics, ranging from former president Ronald Reagan to governors Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jessie Ventura.

The biggest fear with a Kanye West as president, though, is that it might take away from Kanye West the musician.
